I went on the 18th for my first 3 month check-up. They took blood 2 days before. One of the tests was for what they call cancer markers. The numbers fell within the normal range. There was nothing really significant in the other blood tests. Things are moving slowing back into range. Dr. Jiang scheduled a mammogram. I will be getting those every 6 months on just the right side and yearly on the other. Glad the medical folks will keep track of that. Other than that just watch for “symptoms” which could be a thousand different things. If I feel abnormal, call. Well, that could be about everyday depending on how you look at it :-)
My chemotherapy port was removed on Tuesday. It was a bit of a big deal as it was done surgically in the hospital OR. I’ve just about got this OR routine down; Marc as well as he is so faithfully by my side. I’ve been sore and doing things with one arm these past few days. Everyone said this must be such a joy to have this thing out. I must admit joy is not what I have felt. I just wanted this thing out.
As I’ve wrestled with what it looks like to live today without the nagging thoughts of cancer coming back tomorrow, I found myself reading the story of God’s provision of manna (Exodus 16 & 17) in the wilderness for the children of Israel. In Pastor Mike Wilkerson’s book, Redemption, he says this was a test to see if they would trust God for daily provision. In my study the Holy Spirit graciously said this is for you too. God will give you what you need each day—-if there is cancer in it or not—-so don’t sweat it. Trust him for daily provision. Amen.
One 3 month check in down, approximately 5 more to go.
Hair, The Movie is in production—-stay tuned.
Thanks again for all the prayers you have prayed, times you have listened to me, read my blog, sent cards, messages, told me you were thinking of me. Marc and I are so very grateful.
Love,
jane
Jane, You are a remarkable woman and friend to so many. Thank you to you and Mark for continuing to share your experience. Although you may never know who your writings touch and encourage, I can personally tell you I am one of those people. May God continue to bless you immensely. Love to you both. Esther Reina
