Turn of Events….

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and will enjoy ringing in the New Year.

I’m hoping my New Year starts off with surgery on January 3rd. I’m to show up at the hospital at 5:45am! First of the day! Just what I wanted – a fresh and ready to go team. :)

That may not be…Marc contracted COVID. He tested negative on the “fever day” and then positive a few days later. A PCR test confirmed the home test. I spent yesterday afternoon calling my care team to find out how this impacted surgery. My surgeon gave these directives:

  • Quarantine from Marc until the 3rd
  • Take a home covid test every day
  • Watch for symptoms

If I have negative tests over the weekend and especially Monday evening, and no symptoms, surgery is on! If I have a positive test or symptoms, it gets nixed.

So, I called a friend who is out of town and I’m now staying at her place with Nina the cat. I’ll start testing today.

This is a major bummer to be alone just before surgery. This is yet another turn of events that we don’t want, don’t like and would not have chosen for ourselves. Yet, God is sovereign, loving and good. A song that I’ve been singing this fall in the midst of all our turns of events is “Christ the Lord is with Me”.

I have never walked alone
You were with me through it all
Broken hearts and broken bones
You have always held me close
There’s no place that I could go
Heaven’s high or hell below
I have lived enough to know
Anywhere with you is home

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me

Now I live with confidence
That nothing in the universe
Could ever separate me from
Jesus everlasting love
There’s no height and there’s no depth
True in life and true in death
You keep your covenant
Great will be your faithfulness

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with me
Christ the Lord is with me

Hallelujah Christ the Lord is with us

The truths in this song are still a work in progress in me and will be all my days. I’m praying and seeking for them to be truer and more real these days away from family and in the operating room.

Love you!

  1. I am praying for God’s will to be done, as though I doubted it. I prayed with two friends last night for our families. God is in charge. Lovingly and with continued prayers. MOM
