Today was our first day of exploring some of the history of Greece. We are actually staying a bit outside of the modern town of Corinth. Unbeknownst to us, we are close to the ancient port of Corinth where the Apostle Paul would have come to if he traveled here by boat. This site has not been preserved but we did a little off roading in our Alfa Romeo to take a look :-)
Then we traveled up to the ancient city of Corinth. Oh my, again we were in a history book. The columns left standing from the temple of Apollos were right out of a National Geographic magazine.

This city was where Paul spoke and where he made tents with Priscilla and Aquila. We saw where there might have been shopkeepers and we thought perhaps this was their shop.

Have you heard those stories that people who have been to the Holy Land tell? How their faith seems so much more real now that they have seen where it all took place? I (Jane) use to sort of write that off and say, oh, yea, good for you. Yet today I found myself tearing up walking where Paul walked and where my Corinthian brothers and sisters would have lived and worshipped. Silly? I don’t know. Our faith as Christians is historical, ancient. We can go to the places the Bible talks about. Yet, our faith is very current in that we experience God in our lives today…..enough ramblings of my thoughts as we walked around Ancient Corinth.

The Bema (also called the Rostra) is where public ceremonies were held. It is also where the tribune would sit. Paul was likely here when brought before Gallio (Act 18:12).

Oh my! To actually be where Paul walked! Such a wonder. Your description of your emotions touched my heart.
